Temporary short stays supporting family carers and providing quality care
Caring for an elderly loved one can be hard work and often ties you to home almost all day every day, especially if they’re living with dementia. Even if you can get away for short periods or are supporting your loved one but not living with them, getting the opportunity to take a longer term break can be very difficult.
You could engage the services of a home care company, though they can’t be there 24 hours a day and there’s always the risk that something will happen while you’re not there. It’s not ideal having strangers coming into the house especially if your loved one is vulnerable and confused by new faces.
