Our very own resident author

Since moving here earlier this year one of our residents Brian C George, author of ‘A Journal of a year in the life of a Blue Badge Birder’, has got everyone Twitching!

A loss in mobility inspired Brian to write his first book in 2012. Determined to share his knowledge and know how to help other Blue Badge holders get out and about and embrace the wonderful world of birds, now his books can be found on Amazon and Waterstones.

The expert ornithologist joined Hoar Cross to live in June and hasn’t hung up his binoculars. Currently writing his third book, his enthusiasm and passion for birds encourages staff and residents to embrace the birding opportunities provided by the home’s extensive grounds and woodland.

Kathy Cleaver, Registered Manager says:
“We have always felt ourselves fortunate to have a spacious, well kept garden with a woodland walk, but Brian has really brought it to life for us.

“Brian can often be found in our newly built upstairs lounge, the perfect vantage and hide, with a bird’s eye view to observe our garden activity.

“At 80 Brian’s enthusiasm has not waned. He gladly takes writing breaks to give talks in the home on British birds, particularly those in our garden and to date he has identified 41 different species right here in our garden!”
